Wednesday 29th Nov- Christmas is cumming so check out the spellng mistaiks
Sunday was a laugh, not the best night we've ever had but for the arse end of November there were plenty of people out, so to all those who came, hope you had fun. There's a few photo's of the night, you are a god looking bunch, so have a look by clicking here.
Savng Sunday now braces
itself for a brace of bracing Metal, Punk & Rock nights over the festive
season. The first of the two is our Christmas Party on
Sunday 17th December
. This night
has us taking a one off return to the classic Bottom of the Bottle format,
with no bands, just that fucking DJ Trev playing records. Actually that's a
lie, because Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without Santa Claus, who'll be
there dishing out pressie's to all the good little boys and girls. Arrive
early to get the best stuff! But wait - first you need to get yourself to Rock
N' Bowl. Those mysterious NYHC fellows make a welcome return with a whole
bunch of bands of bands taking over UK Superbowl for the night. The action
begines at 7pm and entry is £5, which gets you : FREE food : FREE
bowling : ONE POUND OFF ENTRY to the Christmas party at Cardinal Sins, which
of course starts at 10pm. Al in all there's loads on so don't miss out!
Then, just two weeks later it's something we've never done before. Saving Sunday / Bottom of the Bottle takes on New Years Eve at Cardinal Sins! Doors for this open at 10pm Entry is a modest £4, there will be loads of free booze, Fuck With Fire are on at 10.30pm playing their review of 2006 plus all their "hits", then DJ Trev takes it until the wee hours, playing Metal, Punk, Rock, Indie and even some daft party tunes and the anthems of this year, plus classics to bring back happy memories! This is going to be ace don't miss it! There will be special drinks offers too, so it should just be a super massive party, which lets face it, on New Years Eve is exactly what you want! Just a quick note, Cardinal Sins does have a strict capacity limit, everyone should be able to get in, but to be sure arrive early, we are not doing tickets for this, because it's a ball ache and would cost more money, as it is we're managing to put thew night on for just £1 more than our normal night, which we hope you agree is really good value for New Years Eve.
Also,
in-between those two nights the brand new (to Harrogate) "New Rave" night
returns in-between, on Friday 29th December.
Neon fist has the return of Johnny "One
Eye" Kendall & myself playing playing a mix
match of Dance, Rock, Electro, Durty house, Rave, Indie and Techno. It's on
Friday 29th Dec, and has guest bands and more. Check
it!
Fridays over the festive season and beyond have some excellent line ups also, ... See www.myspace.com/bleachonline to see what's on when for all our Friday nights.
So all in all there are simply loads of unmissable parties right through December!

Tuesday 31st October - Scarily Good!
Wow!
The Pre-Halloween party was utterly brilliant - hope you agree, if you don't
you were either not there, or Pieman, who got kicked out. As ever there were
some beaut costumes, check the photo's out by
clicking here.
The
photo's are incredibly hot, so I'll not waste your time with words here, save
to say the next night is on Sunday 26th November.
Also before then I'm doing
a brand new (to Harrogate - they are all over the place in cities
n' ting) kind of night. It's called Neon fist and will be playing a mix
match of Dance, Rock, Electro, Durty house, Rave, Indie and Techno. It's on
Friday 17th Nov, and has
Trash Fashion from London live, Jimbob's
page1of1, me DJ'ing and guest DJ's includingf Jonny (One-eye) Kendal. Check
it!
Fridays are having it too
right now - this week has the lovely Rosie Sherwood playing accoustic, with a
headline set from
reprobates, who do ace Queens of the Stone Age style rock, plus another band
that i'm waiting to confirms right now.... See
www.myspace.com/bleachonline
to see what's on when for all our Friday nights.
I'm sure I drunkenly slurred it over the mic towards the end of the night, but seriously huge thanks to all who came out on Sunday, we were the only place in town that wasn't dead, and we were fucking packed! I hope you all had a great night, you were brilliant, a grand party!

Wednesday 11th October 2006 - Another spanker!
It was another great night on Sunday, if you missed it more fool you, The Complaints opened things up with their circa 1979 XTC dark new wave punk, then Waking Theo gave it their metal all with yet another fantastic set, finallly Fuck With Fire got the party started as they always do, then it was major drinking and rocking the fuck out till well past 3 am again, lots of fun! (Despite a broken CD player at one time, which bizzarrely seemed to add to the fantastic atmosphere) Cheers to all who came, another success! Click here for photo's
This Friday (THE THIRTEENTH OOOOO-AAAAHHH ETC) has Jimmy Hotrod, supported by Jonny Skinner and young pop punkers Chocolate Log, so get in for that. See www.myspace.com/bleachonline to see what's on when for all our Friday nights.
Of course the real big deal
just around the corner is Saving Sunday/Bottom of the
Bottle's annual Pre-Hallowe'en Horror Show.... Held on Sunday 29th
October this features Brutal Hardcore act Showdown who are all the way from
Norway -
ably
supported by Punk Rockers Homebrew and Metalcore geezers Age of Deficit. Entry
is still only £3 with loads of cheap drinks, plus free ooze and prizes for all
in fancy dress (including our infamous magic apples!),
doors open at 10pm, more free stuff earlier on,
so divvvunt be late!
Also I can now confirm we are going to be having a New Years Eve Party! Held (as you'd expect) on New Years Eve at Cardinal Sins, it will feature a special extended NY(H)E party set from Fuck With Fire, loads of free bubbly and basically the biggest party in town for the night - and the only one playing Metal, Rock, Punk and huge tunes! More detail to follow about this closer to the time...
For now, again, thankyou to all who came on Sunday, please keep supporting Fridays, and here's looking forward to the Hallowe'en party!
Trev xxx
Oh yeah, and next week I'll tell you all about New Years Eve too...
See you Sunday! Trev xxx
Friday 6th October 2006 - Come get fucked (with fire) on Sunday.
This Sunday is of course Saving Sunday, doors open at 10pm. The first band on are The Complaints, kicking things off with their no nonsense approach to punk rock. Following them are Waking Theo who were fucking ace last time they played, straight up full on metal up your ass! Finally it's headliners Fuck With Fire, who are usually off their tits by the time they play, but no less brilliant. last time was a real good gig but a lot of people buggered off after the bands, so hopefully this week I'll fare better keeping the party going till 3am. I'm not very good though so who knows....
Last Friday was wicked, there are some photo's of it for you to see, CLICK ERE not many of 'em like, but it'll give you the idea. Loads of decent bands coming up on Fridays so see www.myspace.com/bleachonline to see what's on when.
After Sunday Saving Sunday returns for Hallowe'en, you know that's a biggie.....
Oh yeah, and next week I'll tell you all about New Years Eve too...
See you Sunday! Trev xxx
Wednesday 20th September 2006 - BLEACH
So Sunday was pretty good, as expected though a bit quieter than usual with the students going back but it was a great atmosphere as ever and the bands part of the night at least was really busy, just quieter later on I guess.
Friday's have re-launched, a new name and look, basically a new night trying to capture what Tuesdays at Carringtons was like all those years ago! Bleach - Friday night Rock club, is now every week at Cardinal Sins with me DJing and bands on each week too. this Friday has The Reprobates plus Rick Hebblethwait, then on Friday 27th we've got proper indie lads Wayside, who are playing with Dead Attack who do arty Rock, and special guests The Superlatives, who are a storming young band and you might have seen them win this years Stray FM Battle of the Bands. To check out all the upcoming line ups, and there are some real belters, click here to visit the new myspace site specifically made from Friday nights!
The next Saving Sunday promises to be good, with a Headline set from Fuck With Fire (who have also been confirmed for a very very very very very special event very very very late in the year, more on that next time... ask around though, it's leaking out). Also playing on Sunday 8th October are the formidable Waking Theo who were stunning last time, and opening the night are The Complaints, who I know very little about, and am a little scared of. Doors as ever open 10pm - 3am with drinks from £1.50.
After that it's all hand on to get ready for the super massive pre-Hallowe'en party, which is to be held on Sunday 29th October. That features a headline set from Norwegian Hardcore act Showdown, plus slightly more local support acts. I know loads of people already planning their fancy dress costumes, and of course the venue will have a full on makeover for it to make it a night to remember.
Plenty coming up then to be sure, cheers for reading, cheers for supporting the nights!

Tuesday 22nd August 2006 - Now that was fucking fast!!
The most recent Saving
Sunday was another cracker, if you missed it it went like this, Jimmy Hotrod
stepped up to fill the gap left by Your Fatal Error who cancelled for some
reason, and were fucking brilliant. I've been trying to get Jimmy Hotrod on
for ages and it was totally worth the wait, we'll definatly be having them
back if they'll do it, superb! Then it was time for some metal as Waking Theo
kicked arse and turned up the volume to 12!! Finally for the live part of the
night it was over to The Mingers, who were the fastest band we've had play as
far as I can remember - politi punk at high speed and tight as owt, in a word,
excellent. The club part of the night was not to be left out, with people
drinking
and really partying until gone 3am, all in all another stormer of a
night, and I can hardly wait for the next one on Sunday 17th September.
Until
then there is of course, Friday's, which are getting buzzing, if you've not
checked them out yet, they are on everyweek at Cardinals, it's a more
mainstream rock night, with 3 live bands, and I play Indie, Rock, Pop Punk and
upfront but still
alternative stuff. No R'n'B.
The photo's from Sunday are online now, click here to see those, and as ever my sincere thanks to everyone who came on Sunday and made it such a great night, and particular thanks to Jimmy Hotrod for stepping up and being so very very good!
Cheers for reading, Trev xxx
Saturday 19th August 2006 - Hot Rod Action!
Very quickly - just added Jimmy Hotrod to this Sunday's wicked line up! Doors are 10pm and you dinnae wannae miss these guys, they are mint!
Friday 12th August 2006 - It's Friday I'm in love
The new look Friday night
at Cardinal Sins is going well, tonight has Sacred Ledge opening things,
followed by the superb pop punk of One Night Only. Headliners Croak Ditch will
guarantee hilarity and then after that I'll be shit until we close. Next week
should be a really good one, it's a bit of an acoustic special with Rosie
Sherwood making her return to
the UK, plus Jonny
Skinner from R/evolve, Craig n' Niall of Drowned in Flames playing, and the
superb Mike Newsham. I'll be Dj'ing before and after playing Indie & Rock, and
entry is just £3. On Friday doors open at 10.30pm, it's the only alternative
weekend night in town so it's well worth checking out. The
myspace page for
Friday has all of the confirmed bill's that are coming up, have a look and
drink in the quality!
The next Saving Sunday is
also fast approaching, Sunday 20th August see's
The Mingers Hardcore politi-Punk headline with excellent support from Your
Fatal Error's screamo brilliance, while Waking Theo kick off the night with
their
up front metal. Entry is £3 and drinks are priced from a mere £1.50. Doors are
open from 10pm and we close at 3am, I'll be playing Metal, Metalcore, Emo,
Screamo, Punk Rock and Hard Rock before between and after the bands and there
are some cool give aways also during the night. If you've never won anything
at one of these nights, it's dead easy, if you see a poster telling you you've
won something, even though it seems to good to be true, take the poster to the
DJ stand and claim whatever it is, you crazy winner type. Shortly after
members of the opposite sex will flock to you, as every one likes to be near
success.
cheers for reading, Trev xxx
Friday 28th July 2006 - Recovered, finally
Sorry
about the radio silence since Sunday's amazing birthday party, but in it's
wisdom BT decided to deprive me of a phone line for the week, so this is the
very first chance I've had to update this site, and all of the many associated
myspace one's I do too. Nevertheless, the photo's from the party are at last
on line, sorry for the wait. I do hope everyone enjoyed Sunday's birthday fest
as much as I did, it seems like I say it every year but it felt like one of
the best Bottom of the Bottle's ever to me...?
The night kicked off with special guests Chillerton, who were brilliant and will hopefully return. Age of Deficit kept things going in style as did Fuck with fire, who upped the thrash levels somewhat. The live part of the night was all really about the last ever show from C4, and it was a thing of beauty. As the text message repeatedly said on screen "C4 is god!". I was in the club last night and it was still saying it. No arguments here.... After the bands finished it was properly into the party, I wasn't (for once) fucking about, just playing pure Bottom of the Bottle anthems, from newer things (that KSE holy diver song) to the first ever tune that got a mosh pit at one of these nights (Fat Lip by Sum 41 if you didn't know) and it all went on until a very messy drunken encore at 3.30am. some of us went to Shanaz, but most went home to nurse what would be sore heads and sore necks in some cases for the next couple of days. What a great night - can't wait until next years party now!!!
Somewhat before then though...
The
next night is "SAVING SUNDAY" 20th August. We've got the superb Waking Theo
opening things up, followed by a much demanded return from Your Fatal Error.
Headliners of the night are The Mingers, who are a belting hardcore Punk band
that are gonna be a real treat! Doors open at 10pm and entry is £3, plus there
are drinks on offers from a mere £1.50. There will perhaps also be some free
stuff to be given away, as we
got
sent some things that arived too late to be given out on Sunday, so we'll let
you know more about that closer to the time. Shit, there's always some free
stuff to be had, and the Bottom of the Bottle brand Chavpagne seemed popular
to say the least!
A real mass thankyou goes to everyone who came to the birthday party, it's almost scary to realise that these nights have been going for over 4 years, but so long as they continue to be as good as that they will keep going, it's been 4 awesome years and it's all down to you who come and have fun. Thankyou, thakyou, thankyou!

Friday 21st July 2006 - Stresscity wooh
Photo's from the last night are finaly up clickum here for those. The final bits and bobs are getting chucked into the goodie bags for this Sunday's 4th Birthday party at Cardinal Sins . If you want to kop one you need to be there early, only the first 100 people get one of the little beauties, doors open at 10pm. In other news the line up is just about confirmed for the next night, which is Saving Sunday 20th August, that should be a beaut, but more on that later. For now - See you Sunday!

Thursday 13th July - Nearly 4
Well, Bottom of the Bottle's 4th Birthday party at Cardinal Sins
is getting very close indeed - I've just been sorting out some free
stuff off nice record companies to put in the goodie bags. These go to the
first 100 people in through the doors and all being well will contain toys,
CD's, sweeties, badges, stickers, Patches, T-Shirts, Helicopters and cruise
liners full of drugs and dwarfs and things. Doors open on Sunday 23rd July for
this mass celebration at 10pm, and it's £3 to get in. First on are
Age of Deficit who do
Metalcore, if you like Killswitch Engage you
should
c-check out these bruisers. Next up are Fuck With Fire, and if you are from
Harrogate and don't know how good these fuckers are you really need to get a
life. The headline set is from C4 and it is their farewell tour. As I type all
the arrangements for this "all star" show are still being made, but it should
be a treat for all fans of this band that blasted shit out of the Harrogate
metal scene for many years, new fans and old will be sad to
see
them go. Unless they are shit on the night, in which case it'll be good
riddance. Either way everyone wins! An emotional set guarenteed, but that by
no means means songs about girls and guys with floppy fringes crying. The
guest band on the night are called
Chillerton who
are on full UK tour, they come from somewhere down south, they'll be playing
at some stage during the night so click their name to check them out. Drinks
are priced from only £1.50 which is pretty skill too, some come join the party
why not?
Thursday 6th July - Decent!
Monday night was decent, a really good night, so as ever thanks to everyone who came down. Those of you that missed it - for shame - this is how it went....
Your Fatal Error opened it up and were quality, though I was disappointed by the fact that they left almost as soon as they'd played... was it something we said? Drowned in Flames have been tighter in their time but were still on good form, chucking in a genius cover toboot! Fuck With Fire were ripped to their tits on drink and drugs, and there was much rejoicing. Finally headliners The Psyke Project blasted us with 40 minutes of prog hardcore terror and then the drinking began in earnest. There were quite a few technical problems which meant the bands didn't finish until much later than they were meant to, so after the birthday party we will be returning to having just 3 band on; quite a few people want more of the DJing part of the night, not least of all me, and I do listen to what people tell me. Mostly. It was a great night and also a very drunk one, and it leaves me looking forward to the birthday party (Saving Sunday 23rd July) very much. But before that...
This Friday at Cardinal Sins
I've been asked to put on a night at the last minute, and the line up is
really cool: Craig Gordon out of Drowned in Flames is playing an acoustic set,
as
is
Karl Culley out of Salsa indie band Las Sangras. Also playing is Rosie Shez
and Jim Thistlewhistle performing his ace Page 1 of 1 stuff. Doors open
10.30pm and it's £3 in, plus there are cheap drinks offers all night. I'm
DJing the night, and on Fridays these days I play Indie, Rock and Pop punk
stuff. If you want there to be an alternative night on Fridays you should come
and support this, cos lets face it if there's no one there they aren't gonna
keep doing it! Last week was great so hopefully we can keep it going.
Back to the metal night
then, Bottom of the Bottle's 4th Birthday party
is just round the corner, on Sunday 23rd July. It features Age of Deficit
opening things up at Cardinal Sins
at 10pm with their excellent Progressive Metalcore. After that there is
a guest band, who are followed by Fuck With Fire, who were great, if somewhat
fucked on Monday. The headline set that
night is the last ever show from C4, a band that practically single handedly
kept this night afloat for 6 months. They will be joined by old members and
guests for a truly ace send off. Following on from them I'll be DJing with all
the Bottom of the Bottle classics that have rocked for the last 4 years, from
current biggies to ones you'd forgotten you like, or now pretend you don't, depending on how cool you are. The first
100 people in get a free birthday goodie
bag plus there will be
giveaways
all through the night for those keen on free
stuff.
Entry drops down to £3, plus drinks are from just £1.50, so don't miss it! And
bring a friend why not?!
Trev xxx
Monday 3rd July - Tonight, then to the future
Tonight then it's Cardinal Sins at 10pm for Panic!Monday, £3 entry going on till 3am, drinks are from £1.50 with Fuck With Fire, Your Fatal Error, Drowned in Flames and The Psyke Project from Denmark headlining! See you there...
Let's imagine now you are reading this after the event as is fairly likely.... with me? Quality. Bottom of the Bottle is to celebrate it's 4th birthday - yeah, it's been 4 years since I started to run Metal and Punk nights and loads of fun it's been too - so we will have to party in style! "Saving Sunday" 23rd July is the date and there are 3 bands playing, each representing and reflecting the last 4 years. C4 will be re-uniting to give a farewell show, so it's your last chance to see one of Harrogate's most influential metal bands who were with us for years and helped create the night. Also playing are Fuck With Fire, who to put it simply are the Godfathers of the Harrogate Hardcore Punk scene. The third band represent the future then, Age of Deficit blew us away last time they played so look forward to their set with an appetite! Entry is £3 and there will be drinks on offer from just £1.50!
Obviously, hope to see you tonight, and if by the time you read this it's been and gone, hope you had a good time!

Saturday 24th June - Harrogate's best looking metal heads
The photo's from Sunday are online now, so go have a looksie, and don't forget to join us on Monday 3rd July for the biggest Metal & Punk show in Harrogate this year! Click here to view 'em I've also added a link so you can see last months photo's from there too, because I forgot to do that last time and y'all been complaining see?
Next night is Monday 3rd July with The Psyke Project, Fuck with Fire, Drowned in Flames and Your Fatal Error plus me dj'ing and hopeefully dancing badly at the end of the night again... but you already knew that dint ya?
Monday 19th June - Harrogate's biggest...?
The first night Bottom of the Bottle has ever run on a Sunday was pretty good last night, it now remains to be seen how the next one goes on Monday 3rd July, and then a decision will be made as to which night is going to be the permanent fixture. The clever money is on Monday's, it is after all the night it started on, but time will tell...
Yesterday was very cool, General Waste opened things with what is rumoured to be their farewell show, though several members of the band are talking about a new line up, so I guess we'll see. Next on were Sacred Ledge who put in a great set and won over a lot of people who looked as surprised as them! Dogfight unfortunately had to cancel due to illness - they will by the way reschedule the gig - so it was straight on to headliners Humanfly. Anyone who saw them play at the old venue over a year ago will have been looking forward to what I advertised on the posters, that is to say "Mathcore". What happened next however was a 40 minute set of pure prog genius. A totally different proposition to Humanfly of old they were stunning, brilliantly dividing the crowd into either love of hate camps. The rolling text messages on the screen told the story perfectly, 25% of people thought they were excellent, sample quote "Aural Sex", 25% of people thought they were shit, sample quote "boring I want the last 20 minutes of my life back", 25% were confused, sample quote "on the bass Derek Smalls, he wrote this", and the other 25% of the texters thought that some one called Ben loves dog's cocks, sample quote "Ben loves dogs cocks". Text hilarity aside it was a really show from all the bands, and the club part of the night that followed probably had the best atmosphere we've seen at the new venue with the die hard still partying at 3am!
All this makes me look forward even more to the next night, the sparklingly named PANIC!MONDAY which is on Monday 3rd July. It's unquestionably the biggest Metal and Punk line up Harrogate has seen this year, with Fuck With Fire, Drowned in Flames, new guys Your Fatal Error all supporting the awesome The Psyke Project who are on European tour, hailing as they do from Denmark. Entry for this is more than usual (don't panic, it's only £3.50) this is purely down to how expensive it is to put on a bill like this. Last year The Psyke Project played what was then Harrogate's heaviest ever gig and it was blinding, this year I hope it's going to be even better. Doors open at Cardinal Sins at 10pm and of course after the bands I play records till 3am. There will be new drinks offers to temp you, plus the various goodies that can be won by the more observant on the night (clue : look out for random posters dotted around...).
Cheers to all that came on Sunday, hope you enjoyed it - see you on Monday 3rd July!!
Thursday 15th June 2006 - It's come around so soon!
Well, hope everyone who went to Download had a good time, you can check out my review of it by clicking here. If you didn't get to go you can make up for it with this Sunday, and if you did go, you can get another fix of metal and punk too this Sunday, 18th June, at Cardinal Sins .
It's the next thrilling instalment of the night that keeps changing it's name, this time it's called "Saving Sunday". Four bands and me DJing, plus cheap drinks... what more could you want for a Sunday night?? Doors open at 10pm as General Waste return to kick things off with their aggro Street Punk, then it's on to Sacred Ledge who will hammer us with some straight up dirty Hard Rock. Following them are shouty Punk Rock n' Rollers Dogfight, before finally we have a headline set, and welcome return, from Human Fly - who do technical mathcore with psychedelic touches and hints of madness too! In-between and after the bands I'll be playing Screamo, Metal, Punk and stuff, and things finish at 3am so there's plenty of time for me to forget to play the request you ask for 16 times. Entry is just £2.50 and all drinks are £2. . If you want to plan your Summer you can seethe next date here, and once I've recovered from Sunday night we'll be announcing the exact date for the Bottom of the Bottle 4th Birthday party. Plus the special guest band we're getting up for later this summer. Ohh yeah!
See you Sunday!
Sunday 28th May 2006 - Picture perfect
The photo's from Tuesday are now online. Have a look then!
Saturday 27th May 2006 - Ace....
Tuesday was again, another belter! Many thanks to everyone who came down, hope you had fun.
If you weren't there, this is how it went... General Waste kicked it off, and even though they were on earlier than expected, had an excellent crowd down for them to see the street punkers rock it. Due to their popularity they have been added to the next date, Saving Sunday 18th June. Following them, almost immediately were Iceland's Fighting Shit, who despite difficulties with Mic leads, were franticly good. Then it was time for Age of Deficit, who had brought a massive crowd with them. Whilst Age of Deficit hammered us with their excellent Melodic Thrash, half the crowd kicked fuck out of each other in the mosh pit, the other half texted the big screed with a message of either pure love or pure hate. So many people indeed texted the system that it crashed! With the exception of the usual "you're not punk" messages, most people seemed to think they were amazing. They will return, very soon! Finally then it was time for Norway's Insense. Playing a longer set than is usual for these nights, they kept up the intensity and downright brutality throughout, and were just fucking brilliant. If you missed it, you missed out, make sure you click here to put the next dates in your diary. Clearly I am biased, but it was a great night, you don't want to miss the next one!
Speaking of the next one, the confirmed line up is General Waste (as mentioned, Street Punk back due to popular demand), Sacred Ledge (Hard Rock to classic Metal), Dogfight (Shouty Punkers with attitude) & Human Fly (Insane Mathcore Brilliance!). It's called Saving Sunday, and is on Sunday 18th June. Entry is just £2.50 and all drinks are £2. It's at Cardinal Sins too, and there will be the usual free things to be won for the sharp of eye (if you've no idea what I'm on about, keep your eyes open next time, again this week we gave away a load of baseball hats and CD albums...).
Nary 3 weeks after that we have a night on Monday 3rd July, tentatively called Panic!Monday. The two nights are a little to close together, but it was the only way we could confirm the line up for it, and it's a big one! Screamo boys' Your Fatal Error open things, with Grungey post HC Drowned in Flames to follow. Then it is the turn of North yorkshire Hardcore hero's Fuck With Fire, who play before headliners, Denmark's The Psyke Project. This could well be the biggest/heaviest Harrogate gig of the summer!
Again, thanks to all who came on Tuesday, without sucking you off, you make it worth doing! Trev xxx
Thursday 18th May 2006 - This Tuesday....
So it's nearly with us again, this Tuesday at Cardinal sins, Harrogate, sees the return of Taking Back Tuesday.
Doors open at 10pm, and entry is £2.50. Pretty much straight away General Waste will be kicking things of with their street punk attitude. Immediately following them are the first of two international acts for the night, Fighting Shit from Iceland, performing a super fast thrash set not to be missed. Then we move on to Progressive Metallers Age of Deficit to keep things seriously heavy. Following that, it stays heavy as it's time for the final live act of the night, Norway's Insense, definitely something to look forward to. After the bands I'll be playing records through until 3am, and of course lets not forget all drinks are £2 all night!
Looking to the future, you may notice that the name of the night starts to fluctuate somewhat. Following Tuesday the next night is called "Saving Sunday" as it's on Sunday 18th June, with 3 Harrogate bands and a Headline set from the blinding Human Fly, who's Technical/Mental Metal is ace! Then at the beginning of July we have the return of Denmark's amazing The Psyke Project. After months of contractual wrangling (no, really) we managed to get a date for this much in demand group. Anyone who saw them last year will know why they are in demand, and apparently this year they are doing some of the smaller festivals, so I've been lucky to get them at all - it's costing loads of money, so I'm not sure what the door charge will be, other than it will as ever be as low as possible, probably £3 (which is hardly crippling now is it?). The Night we've got them is Monday 3rd July, and I think the night's going to be called Panic!Monday, as clearly I like the changing of names according to what night it's on. Click here to see the full bills for both those nights, as you'll see they are a couple of cracking line ups, but then I would say that wouldn't I?
don't miss a fucking thing!
See you Tuesday! Trev xxx
Sunday 14th May 2006 - More...? More!
Ozzie, the guy who does sound for all my nights, is a fucking legend. Because of this we've just confirmed adding another band to the bill for Tuesday 23rd May. The frankly un-fucking-believable Fighting Shit from Iceland are now completing the line up of 4 bands! Click here to see the full bill.
The more mainstream rock night on Friday was quality, this week has Harken doing their Cock Rock thingy, with support from Affectionate Punch. Entry is free and all drinks are £2.
Saving Sunday, (essentially a Taking Back Tuesday night held on a Sunday) will take place on Sunday 18th June, bands so far confirmed are Sacred Ledge, Hard n' Heavy Rock n' Rollers, and Human Fly, who are a stunning Math Metal ensemble from Leeds. More TBA soon!
Finally, if you are looking for something to do tonight, go see ILiketrains at the Blues Bar. The are a much touted Indie band and it's going to be an awesome gig, surly the smallest venue these up and comers will ever play again! Kick off s 8pm, and entry is free too! It's organised by Charm, who always put on a good show.
cheers for reading, Trev xxx
Sunday 7th May 2006 - Here comes the Summer!
The new live night on Fridays at Cardinal Sins kicked off last week, and it was buzzing. Desilva are not my cup of tea, but they are very good at what they do and there was a really good crowd in, particularly to say it was the first one. This week is a triple bill with our own Drowned in Flames (Grunge), Korpral K (Gutsy rock) and Headliners Peace Through Superior Firepower (Proggy Pop Rock). Doors open at 10.30pm and entry is free with all drinks £2.
Before then, this Wednesday my weekly indie Night at Revolution has a live set from the superb (and sexy) Toyshelf. Entry is free for that too, and there are special drinks offers on the night.
The next Taking Back Tuesday ( what marketing executives like Fuck with Fire would call "Bottom of the Bottle's flagship night") is fast approaching too, on Tuesday 23rd May. Listen to the awesome headline act, Norway's Insense, by clicking here. Support that night comes from Age of Deficit, who you can check by clicking here, and General Waste, who being Street Punk types, have no website. Because I'm a fuming capitalist, entry for that is £2.50, rest assured a percentage of our vast profits gets invested in blind kittens, and whilst that is a lie for more than one reason, drinks really are just £2.
Further off, there is a change to one of our forthcoming nights, in that it has moved from Tuesday 20th June, to SUNDAY 18th June. The reason for this is simply that there is an England World Cup on that night, so instead I figured we could try it on a Sunday. Don't worry - I checked with Matt De Conga, and Fire is being held one week later, so there will be no clash. The line up for that night is still getting confirmed, but you can see the process by Clicking here to see what is booked, and what I'm hoping.
Don't forget folks, our amazing myspaz page tells you exac-lee the same information as this, www.myspace.com/takingbacktuesdaymyspace , but we'd still be gay for you to be our friends on there so ahem - "give us an add". Is that what they say?

Thursday 27th April 2006 - something for the weak end?
As the 23rd of May seems a long time away, here's a bit of news on a New night that is starting on Fridays at Cardinal Sins. Because Fridays currently suck ass, the jive turkey who does this site (DJ Trev, bit of a cunt) has been pestering Cardinal Sins to do a mainstream rock night there for some time. Gummy and Bud (Managers there, possibly bi-sexual) have started booking bands for Fridays, so a whole new night is on the way! Kicking off on Friday 5th May, Live @ 11 will feature the best in up front Rock and Indie acts every week, with Desilva for the launch night. After the bands I'll be playing records, with the emphasis being on good partying Rock and Roll from the likes of The Red Hot Chillie Peppers, The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs and generally anything you can get drunk and dance to, up to and including Queen and Rainbow. It is worth pointing out that this is not going to be a metal night, don't come expecting Slayer and Pantera, it's a weekend night and it will be about weekend Rock music, quite mainstream, with the main point being to give Harrogate a Rock orientated party night at the weekend, as lets face it, currently if you don't like R'n'B, Funky house, Northern Soul or Cheesy pop, on a Friday night you are screwed. Click here to view all the bands that are currently booked, they've been busy boys so there is loads coming up, and hopefully it will give you a reason to come out on Fridays - hey failing anything else, entry is free and all drinks are £2 - how wrong can you go?
As for Taking Back Tuesday we're still waiting to confirm more of the summer dates, but we got loads on. Click here to see what is booked, and what I'm guessing at!
Here's another quick plug for the myscene page, as I want to have more than 3 friends www.myspace.com/takingbacktuesdaymyspace , while you're at it listen to next month's headliners here www.myspace.com/insense as they are skill!
So, to re-cap, for something a bit more mainstream check out Fridays at Cardinals from the 5th May, but for the real hard heavy motherfucking deal, it's Tuesday 23rd! K-Pow!
Thursday 20th April : Another hot one!
Yeah! The second night at Cardinal Sins was awesome! Even though Blindfault had to cancel (but more about that later) it was great for the bands and buzzing for the club part of the night. Many thanks to everyone who came down to party, hope you had fun, and if you did you'll want to know about the next one... It is on Tuesday 23rd May, and features live sets from General Waste (Street Punk), Age of Deficit (Prog Metalcore) and Insense (Norwegian Thrash). It's held at Cardinal Sins, entry is £2.50 and all drinks are £2.
first things first though, I'd like to officially apologise for the cancellation of Blindfault. This is the email I recieved:
"Dear trevor ;Blindfault (DK) has just called me and I’m very sorry to inform you that Blindfault has to cancel all UK dates. Today, Morten Sørensen (guitar) has received medical attention in a Dutch hospital. Caused by a strong pain in his lower back he can’t stand up anymore. He’s in constant pain. The doctors strongly recommend surgery or treatment of longer duration. Morten will take a flight home to Denmark this Sunday to receive further medical treatment. I really hope that you’ll find another act with such a short notice! This is indeed depressing news! The guys have been looking forward to this amazing European tour which we have been preparing for almost a year now! I can’t explain how sad the boys sounded on the phone – I just hope that you’ll give them another chance later on and that this episode doesn’t affect our co-operation in future. I’m deeply sorry about this but I really hope you understand that this in out of our hands.contact me for further qustions. Thank you very much. Dream Fire Agency"
As you can see, this is nobodies fault, these things just happen sometimes, and I'm sure you'll agree the night was still a fantastic success! Also, because such clouds sometimes have silver linings, as we didn't have to pay a fee to Blindfault, this means a couple of things. First, we can now definitely afford to have The Psyke Project return. They are a superb HC band from Denmark, but getting them back is proving to be scarily expensive, now we can afford it however, and are just to wait for 100% confirmation of the date. Furthermore we should also be able to afford to get another more expensive band to come and play another date in Summer, and there's yet more, we of course will be one of the first people on the list for Blindfaults re-scheduled tour, though I have no idea when that may be. Of course I'm gutted about the cancellation as they are an awesome band, but there's nothing to be done about it, and if it works in our favour in the end then it will all come good, as mentioned, it does mean I can get some more "pricey2 bands on, so we can kick arse over summer! The most important thing is that we all still had a great night, and I feel sure that is the case. of course I'd also like to say "Get well" to Morten from Blindfault, but I've already done that repeatedly on the phone, so lets move on...
Looking forward to the next night on May 23rd, then beyond that we are starting to get sorted for what promises to be quite a summer. Click here to see what is confirmed, and some of the speculation I'm indulging in toboot!
Finally, you can do all the usual, like check out the Play list and view Photos from the night so if you missed it, see what you missed out on! And while you are on, check out music by Insense, next months headliners, they are the profile song on www.myspace.com/takingbacktuesdaymyspace and they have their own bit too, www.myspace.com/insense with a bunch of tracks to check!
Cheers for reading, and double triple cheers if you came to the night! See you 23rd May!
Sunday 9th April 2006 : Nine days to tAKING bACK 2!
New review from Mr. Scott Thomson here
Saturday 8th April 2006 : Ten days to tAKING bACK 2!
So whilst the waiting for the 18th of April is a pain in the arse, I've been busy busy getting some more dates sorted. First things first, the next night is indeed on Tuesday 18th April, at Cardinal Sins on Station Parade in Harrogate. Opening proceedings are Shotgun Democracy from Leeds, doing their speedy punk thang to get energy levels up. Harrogate's Hardcore superstars Fuck With Fire are next, click on their name to check their very own FAN MADE myspace site. They are just that fucking cool. I don't mean that ironically either, they are just about the coolest guys ever. Finally it's onto headliners Blindfault, who come all the way from Denmark to pummel us with their exquisite System of a Down influenced intelligent metal. After that I play records and such until 3am, you can see the playlist from the last one by clicking Play list which will give you an idea of what to expect, though even given that it's a cliché, expect the unexpected is a better rule of thumb than a list of records from last time. It all depends on how drunk I get, and how much Tim Buck asks for punk rock. Entry is £2.50 and all drinks are £2 (yes sorry folks, there has been a 10p drinks raise, blame capitalism).
You can see all the dates we've got comnig up by clicking here , including the return of the superb The Psyke Project, and closer to hand Norway's Insense playing with a cracking support bill. We've also got the small matter of a 4th birthday party for Bottom of the Bottle, which is going to be a Sunday in late July (We are currently waiting for Fire to confirm their date as we don't want to clash with Harrogate's other finest).
Cheers for checking in with us, if you've got myspace, please add us as a friend www.myspace.com/takingbacktuesdaymyspace and we'll love you off forevva!

Thursday 23rd March : Now it's a whole nother month to the next one!?!
~Well. Thanks! What can I say, the launch of Taking Back Tuesday was a blinder! With brief apologies to anyone who wanted to see Just Fucking Die (they cancelled the night before for reasons unexplained and were replaced with the good clean Fuck you with a knife fun of The Infections) there were CD's won, beers drunks, and friends made! I felt the atmosphere was excellent too (fair enough, I'm biased) but over all it just felt like home, the club is a really cool venue, the bands went down really well, and people were still dancing at the end of the night, 3am!!
Taking Back Tuesday returns on April 18th, with Yorkshire Hardcore from Fuck With Fire, Leeds Speed Punk from Shotgun Democracy, and a headline set from Denmark's Blindfault, who are on a European tour. Entry is £2.50, it's at Cardinal sins, and if you missed the first night there, you won't want to miss this! If you came to the first one, you can see photo's from the night by clicking here; and once again, many many sincere thanks to everyone who came, hope you enjoyed it! See you April 18th!
Thursday 16th March : Hot pants, it's coming!
So the launch of Taking Back Tuesday is nearly upon us, and things are (more or less) in place for us to rock the furk out once more in cold wintery Harrogate.
Doors open this Tuesday, 21st March, at 10pm. No messing, the first band Drowned in Flames will be on as soon as we can get them on, aiming for 10.15pm, so if you wanna see them, turning up at 12 midnight isn't going to work. As chance would have it, there is a review of their new CD for you to peruse along with some other tripe by clicking here. They are followed by the Hardcore heavieness of Just Fucking Die, playing around 10.50pm, at which point standing stroking your beard may be replaced by random acts of macho brutality, it's up to you. Finally rounding off the live bands Standing in the Shadows go on sometime around 11.20pm, after which it's music played by me (or anyone who happens to be passing by if I need a slash) until around 3am. Entry is £2.50 all night, though there are limited admissions after 1am, and I guess it is possible we might reach capacity long before then, though I wouldn't put money on that for the opening night; though for the birthday party in summer that can be something to aim for for me, because having a goal motivates one so.
There is, unlike the other super short lived "alternative" night in town, no dress code, rule number one being there are no rules - rule number two being be careful if you are moshing. Rule number four is no being a cnut. Rule number five being that's definitely it for rules. Rule number three didn't turn up, so don't worry about it.
Things will be loud as furk, so bring your ear plugs (I'm not kidding), bring your sense of adventure, and lets get the party on!
Sunday 5th March : Memories, like the corners of my mind, confused and misguided.
The pictures from the Carringtons leaving party are now finally online, sorry about the wait, but I've been busy writing poetry and examining my feelings. You can click here and view them (the photo's, you don't want to see my feelings, they are brown) and they are pretty good too if I do say so. Cheers to Sy Stanford who took them, he's better at that kind of thing see?
If you don't already know, the new night "Taking Back Tuesday" arrives on Tuesday 21st March, with 3 bands and me Dj'ing all night too. It's in the main room at Cardinal Sins and has their mid week drinks offers, that is to say, everything is £1.90 except Cocktails and Champagne. It's £2.50 to get in, and is open from 10pm until 3am. The bands for the first night are : Drowned in Flames who kick it off at 10.15pm, followed by Hardcore punks Just Fucking Die, and the Headliners Standing in the Shadows are truly not to be missed!
Fans of what was played at Bottom of the Bottle will be relieved to know that the music will be pretty much the same, however those who didn't like what I played at Bottom of the Bottle will be relieved to hear that it will be totally different. Vague yes?
Sunday 18th February : Fookin' to the luture
The Carrington's leaving party was jolly nice, with a few old faces turning up, and perhaps more importantly, a few new one too checking out what we are about. It's worth apologising if you didn't get any of our free stuff on the door, lots of boys got condoms, lots of girls got flowers, and many people got CD's too, so if you did, hope you like them, and if you didn't, you should come earlier next time. It was nice to have a bit of a queue again, and the first hundred people in got something for free, which I think is pretty good. As an "exciting" change to the site, you can now review the play list from the night, by clicking on Play list. Certainly some of the tracks are in the wrong order, and there are a few I can't remember, particularly later on in the night for some reason, but all the ones listed were played, and hopefully they will remind you of some amusing anecdote from your night. Or from crying in the toilets, if that's what you are into.
So the new night "Taking Back Tuesday" arrives on Tuesday 21st March, with 3 awesome bands, and lots of loud music. The most recently asked question of this night is "Will it be in the main room at Cardinal Sins?" and the answer is "Yes, we've got the club to ourselves, it's all in the main room, and if things go well in the future we will have a different Dj in the VIP/side room doing a different take on metal / punk / rock / 'ver." Also people have been asking if the drinks offers are the same as Cardinal Sins usual mid week prices, and the answer to that is yes also. It's £2.50 to get in, and is open from 10pm until 3am, though there are restricted admissions after 1am, only people who have been working in a bar until then can get in after that time. The bands for the first night are going to be awesome, new Boys Drowned in Flames open things at 10.15pm, followed by Hardcore punks Just Fucking Die, and the Headliners Standing in the Shadows are truly not to be missed! you can read a review of their new CD, amongst some other stuff by clicking here.
Again, thanks to everyone who supported the night at Carringtons, and I hope that the "new look" can continue the quality at our new home. Hope you enjoy it....
Monday 13th February : More important news
As many of you will know, a good friend of many of us and a Bottom of the Bottle hardcore regular, Craig Drummond, was recently involved in an accident and was very seriously injured. His best mate, Rhys, asked me to announce some excellent news on the website, as so many people have been asking him for updates. Craig is conscious, and progressing very well, the nurses say he is looking better than any other patient they have had in similar circumstances. I'm really happy to be giving this brilliant news which will come as a relief to many people, and everybody I've spoken to wants to wish Craig and his family all the very best for his continuing recovery.
Krispy, Craig's somewhat hot sister, will I am told continue to update on the messageboard.
Sunday 12th February: What is to become of us!
Tomorrow is the Valentines party, and yes, it is also our leaving do from Carringtons. You probably know all this already... so here's what you don't know...
After Monday 13th February, Bottom of the Bottle as you know it is no more. What takes it's place arrives on Tuesday 21st March. The new venue is Cardinal Sins, and the new name is Taking Back Tuesday. It will be once a month. Doors will be open from 10pm until 3am, but there is no admission after 1am. Entry is £2.50. All drinks are £1.90, except Champagne and Doubles, though they are pretty cheap too. The format of the night will be similar to Jump-around, if you remember that, in that there will be live bands. However, the bands will be playing shorter sets, from 20 minutes long, to a little longer for out of town bands, and more for international acts. And international groups there will be, I've already have booked 2 Danish bands and a band from Norway, more will follow. I will announce those nearer the time as the dates have to be finalised for the July and May nights, but the line up for the first night is thus:
Standing in the Shadows are to head the bill. They are a Post Hardcore/Screamo band from York, who are frankly fucking excellent. Supporting them are Just Fucking Die, a heavy hardcore band that people in the know have been telling me to book for a while. Finally, opening the night is the first ever gig from brand new outfit Drowned in Flames. They feature members of Bubonic Zygote and Johnny Rocket and the Atoms amongst others, and describe themselves as Melodic Metal cum Post Hardcore. As they are brand new, I don't really know what to expect, so you'll just have to come and see for yourself.
The bands take up the first part of the night with myself playing tracks in between, and I then Dj until the end of the evening, which to start off with will be at 3am, possibly going on later as summer arrives. The kind of music I will be playing will feature most aspects of Rock, keeping at the heavier end. Descriptions of genre's such as Emo, Screamo, Metalcore, Punk, even Hard Rock rarely seem to get across much, but they are all we have, so a better description would be from the Harder more angular edges of Indie and Pop Punk, up to extremes of Heavy Metal, Taking Back Tuesday will feature it all. It all goes off in the main room at Cardinal Sins, and the venue also gives scope for opening the side room (VIP lounge on other nights there) with guest Dj's, though I'm going to see how the first 2 events go before deciding on this. If you have any suggestions about what could go in the VIP room, or indeed any other comments about the plans, as always please leave them on the messageboard, or even better, tell me them (ideally when I'm sober).
I hope you are as excited about these changes as I am, this is how it's going to be, and the night will be nothing if you don't come out and make it happen. Here's looking to the future....

Saturday 4th February 2006: Carrington's leaving party!
All the details for our new venue are totally sorted now, but I'm going to keep them to myself 'til the end of this week, partly to keep focus on the last night at Carrington's, but mainly because it's funny to hear the half baked theories that people keep suggesting to me. Most people have correctly guessed where it's off to, but some people have been hilarious, the best so far has been Mark thinking that Bottom of the Bottle is moving to the ball room at The Crown Hotel. It's not.
Carrington's leaving party is on
Valentines Eve, Monday 13th February, doors are open from 10pm, and the first 25
people in will get a free CD off Roadrunner Records, which is, by the way,
badassasfuck. I hope we'll get all the regulars out, as well as some old faces,
Carrington's has been the home of Bottom of the Bottle for the majority of it's
time, so it needs to be a great farewell party!
The details for the new night, launching mid March, will be announced here officially next weekend. But ask around, most people have worked it out already... there will be a bit of a surprise in store though.... Trev xxx
Sunday 21st January 2006: Big Changes in Little Bottom!
As you can hopefully see, there have been some adjustments made to the Bottom of the Bottle website. Hopefully it should be a bit better, but I guess only time will tell. However changes to the website are only half of it. The main bit is that the next Bottom of the Bottle night, to be held on Monday 13th February, will be the last one at Carringtons. That's right, after the best part of three years I've decided it's time to move on from this venue that has shown us some truly awesome times. There hasn't been a fallout or anything like that, it has just become increasingly clear that for Bottom of the Bottle to continue and be worthwhile, a serious change is needed. The details for the new venue (or venues) are yet to be confirmed, so for now I'll concentrate on what we've got for the leaving party at Carringtons. Roadrunner have supplied us with CD's for the first 25 people in, including tracks from Everytime I Die, Opeth, Fear Factory, Most Precious Blood and Ill Nino, or a very collectable single of "The End" from the awesome Roadrunner Allstars album. As it's The night before Valentines Day there will be "romantic" gifts for couples and contraceptives/porn for single types too, with doors opening at 10pm and music going 'til 2.20am. We hope it will be a great night as we've seen some truly awesome ones at Carringtons and it would be ace to leave on a high. Hope you like the new look to the site, please let me know either way by means of the forum. Trev xxx
Sunday 15th Jan 2006 Thought : Back to the old ways.
After tomorrow's panto night Bottom of the Bottle is going back to the old school way and is on once a month. We tried valiantly to stay every week, but certainly for January and February it's not looking worth it, so rather than having several ok nights, one shit one and one good one a month, we are gonna concentrate on having simply one blinder instead! The next night is Valentines night on Monday 13th Feb, with flowers for the ladies, johnnies for the men, and operations for the undecided. Word!
Thursday 12th Jan 2006 Thought : D'oh.
Somewhat frustratingly, the indie night on Wednesdays at Revoloution is on hold til the beginning of February. It starts again on February the 1st, and hopefully can pick up from where it left off. If you are still desirous of indie right now, Kasbah at Carringtons is still every week, so get your ass up there instead. Ta!
Sunday 8th Jan 2006 Thought : Happy New Year chaps.
Tuesday was top buzz wannit? Rock and Bowl was ace, and Bottom of the Bottle was also a good one. We're back on Mondays now for the foreseeable future, generally upstairs, with the next big night downstairs being the Panto Special on Monday 16th Jan. There are to be prizes this year for the best costume, but even if you don't get dressed up its always worth coming down just to check out those that do. Doors open 10pm and entry is free in fancy dress, or £2 if not.
All the photo's from the festive season are now online, click here to view them, you do look nice.
Cheers Trev xxx
Tuesday 3rd Jan 2006 Thought : Happy New Year chaps.
Well we're into the new year, so this is how it goes. After tonight, Bottom of the Bottle is EVERY Monday at Carringtons. Normally we'll be on the top floor from 11pm til 2am, its nice up there now, and not so vast that you'll get lost. The drinks offers are staying on every week too. Once a month tho we'll be downstairs for a bigger night from 10pm until 2.30am. These will often be a fancy dress night, or say, something like Easter. We will even still, very occasionally, be having live bands, tho at the moment these will tend to be acts from overseas or far far away, as this seems to be what people are looking for, so we'll oblige. The music policy is going to stay pretty much the same, with the nights like Punkerdrama, Enchantment at the Bottom of the Sea & Monsters of Hair returning just a couple of times a year, so they are more special events. The rest of the time it will be myself and regular guests playing Metal, Rock, Punk, Ska, Indie, Emo & Alternative, just like you love... Bottom of the Bottle is not turning into a Jazz fusion night just yet! All the details for what is already booked in can be found by clicking here, check it out, it's a crazy idea, but I think 2006 might just work...
fRIDAY 30TH dECEMBER 2005 Thought : Number One Number One Number One!
We do hope everyone had a spanking Christmas, ours was made extra special by the fact that we are officially the Number one night out / event in Harrogate according to the Harrogate Advertise & gig scene! To round off this year we hope you'll join us in Jack's Bar to celebrate new years eve from 10pm, with all bottle's £1.50 'til 11.30pm, me (Dj Trev) playing in the new year, and Dj Pieman playing til probably about 8 the next day... it's free entry all night so you can't really go wrong eh? Hopefully next year can be better yet, it kicks off on TUESDAY 3rd January with ROBOCHRIST & Zymurgy, from 10pm (please note, Carrington's IS open on Monday the 2nd, but it's not Bottom of the Bottle, just a straight Dj Trev party / cheese set, Bottom of the Bottle is on the Tuesday for one week only to coincide with Rock n' Bowl)). We recon it'll be a belter because of its following on directly from the Rock n' Bowl night at the bowling alley, and last time we linked up with them it was super phenomenal! This is that last update of this year, thanks for all the support in 2005, without you lot coming to the nights and being fun 2 b wiv, we'd not bother, but you is well ace, and we can't wait to see you in 2006! Trev xxx
Thursday 15th dEC 2005 Thought : We're walking in the air, we're floating in the moon lit sky. We've been sniffing glue innit?
So, for new years eve, I'm gonna be playing at Jacks Bar with (shudder) the "legendary" Dj Pieman. This follows months of contractual wrangling that ended when I realised Jacks sells Guinness, and thought it'd be a laugh. We'll be on from 10pm and entry is free all night, Pieman will no doubt be dj'ing until the sun rises, but I'll have fallen over and gone home by then. All bottles are £1.50 until 11.30pm which is pretty cool, and it'll be a bit of a nice touch to play in a bar on New Years Eve as I've not done that since the millennium, and mine was the only venue in town that was much cop that night, so hopefully it'll be a good one. I don't know what Pieman will be playing, but I'll be doing my New Years mix of Rock and party, playing my top ten pop records of the year (thrill at the suspense of which Killers record I rate highest!) and at midnight we'll have the bells and I'll play my favourite record of all time (marvel at the fact it's still Bohemian Rhapsody). Look out for big New Years Eve tunes from the likes of Rainbow, Kiss, Kaiser Chiefs, Oasis, My Chemical Romance, Blur, Green Day, Guns n' Roses and loads more. Hope to see you there!
Before all that however it is the big 'un this Monday, Bottom of the Bottle's Christmas party! We've just got off the phone and Santa Claus is now contracted and confirmed to appear, with a host of gifts including Southern Comfort hip flasks, Jack Daniels T-Shirts, Bottles of Cider, CD's, Bob Marley Rizlas (?), Turbo Negro & Audioslave T-shirts, Bottom of the Bottle tops and polo shirts, Bob Marley Lollipops (??), badges, Satsuma's, Frisbee's and flaggons of ale. Doors open at 9pm, with Placentas and Harken live from 9.30pm prompt to get us in the spirit, and we are on til 2.15am! Do not miss this, unless you are a turkey.
Into the new year, Bottom of the Bottle's first night of 2006 is actually on Tuesday 3rd January, to give you an extra day to recover! Once again, following the sucess of the birthday party over summer, we are teaming up with the mysterious NYHC boys to tie in with Rock and Bowl. It all kicks off at the Bowling alley at 7pm with The Infections (punk), The Valhalla Pacifists (thrashcore), Fuck With Fire (genius), You me and the atom bomb (punk) and The Dauntless Elite (melodic hardcore), entry for that is £4 with free food and bowling, then Carringtons opens at 10pm with Zymurgy (Black metal) on stage at 10.45pm and A Destructive Issue (Leeds based melodic angst) on at 11.30pm. Entry to Carrington's is £2 and Smirnoff Ice, Smirnoff Black, Carlsberg and Archers Aqua are £1.70 a go all night 'til 2am.
Then, staying in January, it's on to our vaguely legendary classic-amundo Panto night on Monday 16th Jan 2006. Start thinking about you costume now, and we'll be back with more details in our next thrilling telling off inducing instalment!

Monday 12th November 2005 Thought : Christmas time, Mistletoe and Wine(y emo)
Sunday 20th November 2005 Thought : Indie kids are go!
The new indie night on Thursdays, Kasbah, is starting to take off, this Thursday was a great night, with all kinds of shenanigans, from disco dancing to Pulp, to strutting along with Franz Ferdinand. This week has SKINNER! formerly of Re/volve playing an acoustic set. Entry is free and all drinks are £2!
Before then tomorrow night we have the superbly entertaining Nuns Bleeding Guns playing live at Bottom of the Bottle. Don't forget we've got the drinks promo's now on Mondays, and entry when we have a band is still only £2 (it's free if there's no band on, you can't say fairer than twat).
The dancier night on Fridays at Cardinal Sins is ace too, so everything is happy in Bottom of the Bottle land! Then there is the possibility of a New Years Eve party... I'll let you know...
Cheers Trev xxx
Sunday 30th October 2005 Thought : Done and done.
Right then, Tuesday is done in, finally, and it was heart warming to be the only one who wore a kilt. Not a great idea that then, but screw it, I've got the legs for it...
This Thursday kicks off Kasbah, the new indie night, and entry is free with all drinks at £2. Pretty cool? Doors are open 10pm - 2am, and it's on the top floor. Top buzz.
Waking Theo are the first live band to play a Bottom of the Bottle, and that's on Monday 7th November. It's important you know that they will be on stage at 10.30pm, so if you want to see them, don't be late. We will be running things differently to Tuesdays, as we don't want the band on during the night, so even if there's no fucker there, they will play at 10.30pm.
Excitingly, a week later we've managed to book a cancelled date for Red Stars Parade. They are on tour with Flatlands & Naked Shit, and we'll be putting them on the top floor, just as a bit of something different. That night opens at 11pm and is £2 entry, and I'll be in between the bands playing a right mixture of stuff, ranging from Lamb of God type heavieness, to Damien Marleys current song, as it think its the shit. This only came up by chance as the venue for their Middlesboro date cancelled, so it'll be a bit of a different sleazier set up upstairs, and hopefully should be "well gud mate".
Check it the fuck out. Trev xxx
Sunday 9th October 2005 Thought : Free Drinks. Really.
Tomorrow for Bottom of the Bottle we've managed to blag a WKD promotion, which means a whole bunch of people will be getting a free drink on us. The glamorous greeter girls will be giving these out on a first come first served basis, and they will also be giving away some excellent CD's from God Forbid. These 5 track Cd's come from Century media, and also feature new tracks from Manntis & The Haunted. There are some weird glowing things to be had too, but the less said about them the better. So anyway, turn up early to be sure to get a free drink, it's one of the last Bottom of the Bottle's before the change....
this Friday, 14th October, I start a new party night at Cardinal Sins, it's not a metal night so I shouldn't really be mentioning it here, but I'm a publicity seeking whore. For more details click this : this.
next Monday, 17th October, is of course the Enchantment at the Bottom of the Sea dance. This is a new venture, and is basically a Bottom of the Bottle night playing totally different music. Namely 50's & 60's rock and roll. It is not to be taken too seriously, the main thing is for us all to have a bit of fun with music that you never really get to hear. Great Balls of Fire, Rock Around the clock & tracks from the Grease soundtrack? You bet, and plenty more besides! Entry for that one is free, some people are dressing up as pink ladies etc, but you don't have to, just come and have a laugh!
and of course a week later, Tuesday 25th October, it's Scotchtober Fest, the last ever Jump-around. This looks like it's gonna be a Monster, the full line up is Conquest of Steel, Fuck with Fire, Bubonic Zygote, Systemyk & Infobia. Doors open 10pm and because of the amount of bands they will be starting pretty early so don't be late!
So all this is coming up, and I've not even mentioned the Hallowe'en spooktacular, which for the first time ever actually falls ON Halowe'en, Monday 31st Octeber. I'll keep you posted...
cheers Trev xxx
Thursday 29th September 2005 Thought : Best of 3 are back
Great night on Monday, hope everyone enjoyed it, really good to see so many people getting dressed up and messed up!
There is a change of bill for this Tuesday, the forth from last Jump-around ever! We have The Bluebirds over from York headlining, and they say they sound like Hendrix, which shows confidence! They are now to be supported by Best of Three, who were storming last time they were over from Ripon. We're running out of time on Tuesdays, so try not to miss any of em!
Sunday 25th September 2005 Thought : Whole lot of changes goin' on!
As some of you may or may not know, this has been coming for a while, but lets make it official shall we?!! From the End of October long running Live/Cross over night Jump-around is to be no more! But rather than this being sad news, it is good tidings indeed! Not only will we be continuing to have live bands, they will now be at Bottom of the Bottle on Mondays. This makes more sense as often people would come to see a metal band and then afterwards, logically, want to hear metal music, Tuesdays was always a more commercial night so this will work much better. Also it now means there is a new night called Kasbah on Thursdays. This ran briefly at Bar Med before the venue went, and was a good night of Indie and Alternative tunes. Kasbah will be starting in November. But the best piece of news about all this is surely that the Tuesday drinks promotions (namely Smirnoff Ice, Archers Aqua and Bottles of Carlsberg at £1.70 all night) will be moving to Mondays! Bottom of the Bottle remains every fortnight and so do the specials (some of which will be getting revamped - details to follow) but for every Monday there will be the great drinks offers that have suited us so well on Tuesdays for so long!
The final Jump-around is on Tuesday 25t h October. It features lots of the best bands to have played Jump-around in the last 2 years and is called Scotchtoberfest! Entry for the final one is £4, the most we've ever charged, but fortunatly entry is the usual £2 if you are wearing a Kilt or have an NUS card. The line up is Bubonic Zygote, Systemyk, Inphobia & Conquest of Steel, don't miss it, it's gonna be emotional.
Thanks for reading as ever, don't miss this weeks Back to School Party tomorrow (Monday 26th Sept) and keep checking back here for news as it happens about our debut Live bands at Bottom of the Bottle, from November onwards! cheers, Trev xxx
Wed 21st September 2005 Thought : Everyone's cumming to school.
As our Back to School Night approaches more Bars in town are getting involved! On Monday 26th September not only is it Bottom of the Bottle, but the Blues Bar have excellent Art Rockers This ET Al, plus support from Tiger Bomb. Entry is Free. Also Harrogate's Montey's Bar is Offering Happy Hour Prices til 10pm for everyone in School Uniform! So make a long night of it and get the drinks in! So make sure you check out the excellent gig at the Blues, get to Montey's for a cheap drink up to 10pm which is when Bottom of the Bottle opens, and it's free entry in your school uniform, gym kit, cub outfit, or anything that is a bit morally corrupt. Good times & free stuff beckon!
Sun 18 September 2005 Thought : School is nearly in.
Monday 26th September is Bottom of the Bottle's legendary perv fest the Back to School party. Entry for this is free if you are in your school uniform, which can include Gym kit, or School type fancy dress (last year Caretaker was a popular option for the boys, creepily) there will be plenty of free stuff to be won, including T-Shirts from TurboNegro (Provided by long time Bottom of the Bottle luminatee John 15), Audioslave T-shirts, Jack Daniels tumblers, CD's, Crazy WKD hats and Frisbees and glowing stuff to boot! There will probably be more too, we'll see what turns up.
Sadly, I have to pass on my sincere thanks to the cunt who stole my Sega master System. It must be worth at least £9.50 so you truly must be a peasant beyond belief. Next time you are looking at a "chav" thinking how scummy they are, ask if you can borrow their burberry cap, you lowly piece of thieving scum. If any of you good people happen to know who it was that took it, think twice about inviting them round your house and let them know my thoughts are with them. If perchance you do see someone robbing something like this tell them to fuck off, as I'm not bloody made of Sega's and Ping pong sets you know...
It's been on the messageboard for a while now, but I may as well announce it officially, the new night around the corner, which will be happening twice, first on Monday 17th October, and then once before Christmas is to be catchily entitled "Enchantment under the Sea dance". It's from 11pm - 2am and has myself and Luke to the Dixon Dj'ing, and we'll be playing Crazy 50's Rock n' Roll, wacky 60's beat vibes, and zany 70's erection flavaz! It's going to be a real swinging affair, with all manner of Rocking and Rolling to bring back those Happy Days. Etc. Entry will be free, and I guess you could dress up as your fave character from Grease, Back to the Future, um, American Graffiti, ah, Sgt. Peppers, any of them dodgey Monkees episodes, er, The Banana Bunch, Scooby Doo, are you still reading? Just come, it'll be buzzin.
Speaking of buzzin, I think I'm Dj'ing at The Retro bar at the beginning of October, but Mike Gowland is meant to be organising it, so who knows.
Right that's it, I'm off, see you Monday for Punkerdrama and it's speak like A Pirate day too, then Tuesday C4 play with Beaverdyke, so that should be a good night too. Cheers for reading, Trev xxx
Saturday 10th September 2005 Thought : We're going through changes.
There has been a last minute line up change for this Tuesday, 86 Licks have, for some reason, cancelled, but that's ok as the Mighty Zymurgy have brought their date forward. So this Tuesday you can see 11 Days & Zymurgy play live, and last time both these bands brought really good crowds, so all being well it should be top buzz!
Before that on Monday it's Jack Daniels birthday party at Bottom of the Bottle, which should be drunk city.
As everyone is looking forward to Bottom of the Bottom's yearly celebration of borderline perversion, the back to school party on Monday 26th September, it is excellent news that there is once again going to be an official pre-bar to the event. As The Blues Bar is hosting a Charm night that night we are using that as the general pre-booze up. This Et Al hail from Leeds and play an intelligent mix of Muse style art, At The Drive-in intellect and Libertines fuelled fun, so before heading up to Carringtons, where entry is free all night in School Uniform, head to the Blues Bar where entry is free to check out this superb band!
There is a spurt of guest reviewing going on, check out the Album reviews page, as it'll be nice for you to read someone elses opinion, even if it doesn't count for as much!
Cheers for reading mud suckers, and a quick reminder that The Excellent Beaverdyke make a return to our town on Tuesday 20th September, and are now playing with C4, who played one of their best sets last time, and if you think Scottish Craig is only in one band, you would be well advised to check them out and see where it all began!
Sunday 21st August 2005 Thought : This Goat is dead, it is an ex goat.
The more visually astute of you will have noticed that the next G.O.A.T. night is also to be the final one. Both myself and Heathdamnation who Dj's the night are very disappointed at this, but we also both thought it pretty much inevitable. Originally the night was started as a self indulgent night where I could play all the heavier things that I never got to play at Bottom of the Bottle and Heath was on board to make things a touch more sinister... we were amazed at how busy it initially proved to be. However, Deathmetal et al is not well known for bringing the kids out of their tombs and recently attendances have dropped off to the point of it being ridiculous to carry on, that coupled to the fact that Bottom of the Bottle itself is now heavier than ever made us reach the decision to call time on G.O.A.T.. We got a good year out of it however which is pretty impressive in itself that we managed to run a night just that nasty for 12 months in a place the size of Harrogate; much bigger places have never had a night like G.O.A.T.. I'd like to thank Heathdamnation for Dj'ing for the past twelve months, and there is a strong possibility that if the last one is any good, G.O.A.T. may return for a "yearly special" or something like that. If that proves to be the case, there would probably be live bands too, as we get lots of real fuckin' heavy bands that want to play, and this would be a good way to combine the two.
Taking the place of G.O.A.T. every 6 weeks will be a short series of nights (rumoured to involve Luke Dixon of the mysterious N.Y.H.C.) to take us into 2006, and then obviously we will look at how those have worked, and will either keep them in place, put on something else. Craig from C4 asked us to put on a R'n'B night, and the guys out of A Transparent Lie asked us to put on a night of free open mic poetry about girls, amongst other ideas. All options will be considered, until we do what I have already decided.
The final G.O.A.T. is on Monday 5th September, so if you've come to any of the G.O.A.T.s we've run, come down and give the night a good send off!
In other news, September is a "well busy month" with a Jack Daniels birthday party on 12th September where you can win real cool JD stuff to collect, or more likely sell on Ebay. The perve fest that is our Back to School party goes off on 26th September with all the usual hormonally imbalanced excitement, get you gym slips out the back of the closet, so long as your weirder older brother has not already nabbed it! Kerrang magazine's favourite punk night Punkerdrama is a week before that on Monday 19th September, and those nights have been going very well recently so go have a look see. Some shit hot bands are playing that month too, click here to see the line ups, with our hot recommendation being Strain & Bubonic Zygote on the Sickth (sic) 6th.
Going back to Kerrang! have you noticed how we are mentioned nearly every week. That is because they are fucking ace, and so are we. Wouldn't it be nice if someone started a magazine in Harrogate that mentioned the fact that we exist, but then I've not seen the last two issues of Plush so maybe I'm on the cover.
Cheers for reading Trev xxx
Sunday 31st July 2005 Thought : Top das buzz
On Tuesday 9th July we've got a German band playing called Transmitter. Performing their mixture of Prodigy-esq experimentalism meets Senser party breaks they are on stage with thrashers C4 & Norfolk's Metal geezers Sinister Clothcat. Doors open 10pm, entry is £2!
On a commercial tip, I'm in the main room on Fridays for the next three weeks, last Friday was excellent, nearly as good as it got at Bar Med, so come and have grown up well supervised fun. It's £5 after 11pm, but on the plus side its free before 11.
After tmoz, the next Bottom of the Bottle is our Summer beach party on Monday 15th August. Free entry and free Sex on the beach for anyone in beach wear. Come as you like, but it'll be more fun if you wear Bermuda Shorts, Hawaiin shirts, Bikini's, Swimsuits, Grass Skirts, Flip-flops, Shades, Speedo's, Trunks, Victorian full length bathing suits, or whatever you fancy. Our glamorous greeter girls will be giving away plenty of goodies to people dressed up, plus there will be "amusing" games, free shots and all kinds of beach related stuff, without the inconvenience of getting sand up yer bum.
Cheers Trev xxx
Saturday 23rd July 2005 Thought : Still recovering?
Into the Pit, Bottom of the Bottle's Under 18's night returns twice over the school summer holidays, click here for full details.
Sunday 26th June 2005 Thought : Heavier than Godzilla holding a ten ton weight with Pieman jumping up and down on his head.
Possibly Harrogate's heaviest ever gig is upon us this Tuesday. New line up extreme metal boys Bubonic Zygote (who are fresh from a 7/10 rating in the mighty Metal Hammer) support Denmarks The Psyke Project. Doors for this leviathan of a behemoth of a fuck off big cnut of a night are open from 10pm and entry is £2. Bubonic Zygote start at 10.15pm so don't be late tardy types.
I've started a new night on Fridays in The Venue (the new bit basically) of Carringtons. The first one was fairly promising, it's not in the slightest bit heavy, but I play Bon Jovi and get drunk, join the party... entry is free before 11pm or £5 after.
After that we are just waiting for the bithday party... Cheers for reading, Trev xxx
Sunday 19thJune 2005 Thought : Yeeehaw!
Tomorrow is Bottom of the Bottle's rootin' totin' American Independence party, providing we can find some bunting, and Budweiser is £1.70 al night, which is ok innit? Then in a fortnight on Monday 18th July it's our super megahuge 3rd Birthday party. This is preceded by the welcome return of an Official Pre-Bar at the Bowling Alley. Called Rock n' Bowl it will feature live bands, fodder and free bowling. Just don't be late to arrive at Bottom of the Bottle itself as the first 100 people in get one of our highly sought after birthday goodie bags. Also Bulliet Bourbon and Coke is £1-70 a double all night!
In sadder shoddier news Bar Med, our Weekend hang-out, has unexpectedly closed down. It may yet re-open, but who knows. I am depressed.
Back on the plus side, Harrogate's heaviest ever gig, with the return of Bubonic Zygote and their hot new line up, is completed by Copenhagen's ultra heavy ultra excellent The Psyke Project. This is on Tuesday 12th July, and isn't to be missed. All our live nights on Tuesday now open at 10pm - 2am, and ENTRY IS STILL ONLY £2. Top buzz!
As ever, cheers for reading, and a quick apology if when the website changed server you had to find something else to do on line for 3 days, it was rubbish wasn't it...
Cheers Trev xxx
Sunday 19thJune 2005 Thought : I was only jokin'!
Hope everyone had a good time at Download, you can read my self important pompous ass review of the weekend at the Live page. Perennial liar Dj Insane makes his return to Dj'ing this Monday, and hopefully he will give me my camera. In the mean time thanks go to mad punk fuck Charlotte Churchburner for taking the phot's of Tuesday. It seems the new layout is quite popular, so we think bands will be playing from the floor in future, nice one to Ozzy and the F.W.F. boys for coming up with that. The next two Bottom of the Bottle's should be biggies, Monday the 4th of July is obviously an all American yee-haw sun of a gun independance party, bring a flag and pull a slag. Perhaps. But then the one after that is the enen bigger one... Pending going and checking my calendar Monday 17th July is penned in as being Bottom of the Bottle's 3rd Birthday party. Who knows what is coming up for it, but it'll be huge if it's half as good as the last two, and hopefully it'll be better than them both put together times two with added boobs and beer. Possibly after summer things will be having a bit of a shake up, but right now its too hot to think about it! Keep hitting back here to see what may or may not be in store... Cheers for reading, Trev xxx
Tuesday 7th June 2005 Thought : 3rd Annual Download festival planner - preview by Trev
This is indeed the 3rd annual Download planner, last years getting a record 2 comments from people, so when you're onto a good thing.... this is what we reckon you should do, in a light hearted "harmless fun" preview style, of course:
Wake up Friday morning and say, "you know what, I'm not off down today, Dj Trev is missing the first day so that he can play pop music to girls at Bar Med, so I'm gonna watch him do that. After all, I'll only really be missing Megadeath, The Used (who will probably be shit like their last album), My Chemical Romance (curiosity vote), Lordi & Apocalyptica." That decided you choose to arrive in the early hours of Saturday morning, to a campsite that is too full, and has been populated with people who have been there since Wednesday with nothing to do at all (with the exception of the above bands) other than drink and piss up the side of your tent, which you are sincerely hoping Pieman has indeed pitched for you. Wake Pieman up with a kick to the face to discover that he has not in fact put up your tent because, and its a funny story, he got drunk and set fire to it. An hour later with the body safely disposed of you are set up in his tent and ready for a day of Rock. Trivium are to kick off the main stage so head there, but get distracted from the band by watching all the borderline jail bait girls who want to be bespoiled by these 19 year old thrashers. Have an internal debate on the moral implications of fantasising about taking one of them to Willys shack. After reaching the decision you are a monster, head to the Snikers stage to check out American Headcharge. Realise that you are the only person in the crowd who doesn't self harm and retire in shame. hopefully the times will work out that you can go and check the mad Capsule Markets reading stunted English of a Piece of grubby paper along the lines of "Hello to be in your Cunt. Re England is good we Mad Capsules song this is 'I-pod on a sunny beach surf distortion', like it we hope you do, but beware the darkside, fear, anger, aggression, hatred". Whatever you do, don't miss Everytime I Die next on the Snickers stage, but avoid going into the pit for fear of some h/c kid unleashing a combination of ninja/street fighter 2 moves on you, because thats cool these days. Now, you've already missed the amusingly named Diamond nights on the Nappster stage, but assuming they are not a band formed in tribute to the pop careers of Glen Hoddle and Chris Waddle (ask your dad) it might not have been much fun anyway. You are debating starting to drink. For 3 months now you have been saying how on Saturday you are going to wait until at least 6 o'clock before you start supping, so you will enjoy all of Sunday. Repeat this to yourself as you joining the 50 yard cue to get your beer tokens, which 35 minutes later you exchange for the first of many frankly unsatisfying warm cardboard cupped Carlsbergs. It's 2.30. Kill a bit of time by heading to check out the festival shopping which hopefully will be better than last year. Amazingly you discover that the festival shopping has been taken over by Wal*Mart and be suitably impressed by the range and prices on display. Unfortunately you then remember Sharon Osborn's series of Adverts for the chain, and become a born again communist. With your new found political conscience Alter Bridges sub god rock will not do, so instead go see Panic Cell to support the Uk rock scene. Realise they just sound like an American band 4 years ago and head back to the main stage in plenty of time to see Anthrax. Have a row with your girlfriend who wants to go see Bullet for my Valentine, patiently explaining to her that you are off to see them in Leeds later in the month, and why doesn't she shut up. Anthrax are the best band of the day so far, so treat yourself to a Hot Dog. £8.50 later you know what happens to racehorses that don't win, and you decide to wash it down with a couple of aftershocks, waving the knowledge that its as nice as mouthwash or worm medicine, as after eating that hot dog you need both. Following the disappointment of HIM you rush to catch Lamb of God, who have been replaced by the Weekends surprise guest stars. The reformed Shampoo's hit "Oh no we're in trouble" is a highlight of the weekend though their set isn't as well received as might have been (in truth my money is on Motley Crue being the guests). Velvet revolver are a blast on the mainstage wowing everyone by playing covers, but not of G'n'R's stuff, rather by a storming rendition of the entire Jive bunny and the Master Mixers back Catalogue. Finally for the day catch a bit of Chimera, then confuse everyone by going to the Snickers Bowl to see Reuben who are amazing, before catching at least half of Black Sabbath's set, as you well knew you would. Spend the rest of the night arguing with Scottish Craig who flatly refuses to believe that any of the bands who played today we any good. When Heath arrives from spending the entire day in his tent because non of the bands were worthy of his attention, realise you are out gunned and go to bed.
Half way throu
